Rift Labs LLC ("Rift Labs," "we," "us," or "our") operates rift-labs.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information collected through the website, our contact form, email communications, and related website services.

Information we collect

We collect information you choose to provide. When you submit the contact form, this may include:

Your name, company, and work email address.
An optional phone number and company website.
Your service area, approximate team size, and preferred contact method.
Information about the process you want to improve and the tools involved.
Your consent to be contacted about the inquiry.

The contact form also records limited source information, including the page where the form was submitted, the referring page, campaign parameters included in the URL, and the submission time.

Our hosting, security, and website systems may automatically process technical information such as an IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps, referring URLs, and diagnostic or security logs. The contact form also uses a short-lived value derived from an IP address to limit repeated submissions.

If comments are enabled on an article and you leave a comment, WordPress may collect the information shown in the comment form, your IP address, and your browser user-agent string for moderation and spam prevention. An approved comment and the name you provide may be displayed publicly. If avatars are enabled, a hashed value created from your email address may be provided to Gravatar to determine whether an avatar is available. Gravatar is operated by Automattic; its practices are described in the Automattic Privacy Policy.

For authorized WordPress users, WordPress stores account-profile information and may include the requesting IP address in a password-reset email.

How we use information

We use information collected through the website to:

Review, respond to, and follow up on inquiries.
Send a confirmation that a contact request was received.
Schedule conversations and evaluate whether our services are a fit.
Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website.
Understand which pages and outreach efforts lead to inquiries.
Prevent spam, fraud, misuse, and other security incidents.
Maintain appropriate business records and comply with legal obligations.

We do not use contact-form information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

Cookies and analytics

If you leave a comment and choose to save your name, email address, and website, WordPress may store those preferences in cookies for up to one year. WordPress also uses temporary and session cookies for authorized users who visit the login page or sign in, including cookies that remember login status and display preferences. Login duration varies depending on whether the user selects "Remember Me." A cookie containing a post ID may also be created when an authorized user edits or publishes content.

Other website services may use cookies or similar storage when necessary for security or functionality. The site may also measure page views, referral sources, and interactions through configured analytics tools. We do not intentionally send the contents of contact-form fields to analytics providers.

Rift Labs does not use this website to sell personal information or to support cross-context behavioral advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although blocking necessary cookies may affect some website functions.

How we disclose information

We may disclose personal information to service providers that perform work on our behalf, including:

Website hosting, WordPress infrastructure, backups, and security providers.
Email-delivery providers, including Amazon Web Services and Amazon Simple Email Service.
Scheduling providers when you choose to book through an external scheduling service.
Analytics and diagnostic providers when those services are configured.
ActiveLayer LLC when ActiveLayer spam protection is enabled for a supported website submission, such as a WordPress comment.
Professional advisers such as accountants, attorneys, and insurers when reasonably necessary.

We may also disclose information when required by law; to protect the rights, safety, or property of Rift Labs or others; to investigate misuse; or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business. We do not sell personal information.

ActiveLayer spam protection

When ActiveLayer is connected and enabled for a supported website submission, such as a WordPress comment, the plugin may create a submission record and transmit information to the ActiveLayer API for spam analysis and related operation and security of that service. Depending on the protected feature and settings, this information may include submitted field values such as a name, email address, message, or URL; the submitter's IP address and user-agent string; form and site metadata; timestamps; and optional behavioral or browser-environment signals. ActiveLayer returns a spam assessment that the site uses to allow, hold, mark, or reject the submission.

Data is transmitted to ActiveLayer over HTTPS and may be retained in the site's WordPress database and by ActiveLayer according to configured retention settings and ActiveLayer's practices. Additional information is available in the ActiveLayer Privacy Policy. ActiveLayer does not protect a submission when it is not enabled for and compatible with that website feature.

Third-party services and links

This website may link to scheduling platforms, social networks, or other third-party websites. Information you provide directly to a third party is governed by that party's privacy policy and practices. Articles may also contain embedded content such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content can allow the provider to collect data, set cookies, or monitor your interaction as though you visited that provider's website directly. Rift Labs is not responsible for the privacy practices of websites or services we do not control.

Retention

Contact submissions are delivered through email and are not maintained by the theme as a separate lead database in WordPress. Copies may remain in business mailboxes, provider records, backups, and security logs. When ActiveLayer protects a supported submission, its WordPress plugin may also retain a submission and detection record according to the retention settings selected by the site administrator. Published comments and their metadata generally remain until the comment is deleted so the conversation and moderation history can be maintained.

Retention otherwise varies based on the type of record and our need to respond, maintain business and legal records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the website. We may retain information longer when required by law or a valid legal hold.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we process. No website, email system, or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not submit passwords, API keys, payment-card details, regulated records, or other sensitive information through the contact form.

Your choices and requests

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information associated with you. You may also ask questions about how we use or disclose it. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and we may retain information when permitted or required by law.

To make a privacy request, email hello@rift-labs.com. We do not currently send marketing newsletters through this website. You may ask us to stop non-transactional communications at any time.

Children's privacy

This website and our services are intended for businesses and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this website, email us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

United States processing

Rift Labs is based in Kentucky, and information may be processed and stored in the United States. If you access the website from another country, your information may be transferred to a jurisdiction with different data-protection laws.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal obligations. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated. Material changes will be communicated in a manner appropriate to the change.
